CAHNRS Articulation Agreements
The College of Agricultural, Human, and Natural Resource Sciences (CAHNRS) shares an interest with community colleges and other institutions of higher education in facilitating the seamless transfer of students to WSU. Our college faculty and staff care greatly about student access to higher education and wish to make this transfer between two and four-year institutions as barrier-free as possible.
As such, CAHNRS has developed a set of articulation guidelines to assist WSU CAHNRS and community college personnel who are interested in developing articulation arrangements into CAHNRS degree programs. A handbook of these guidelines can be downloaded in PDF format using the following link:
CAHNRS Articulation Guidelines Handbook
How does CAHNRS develop and manage articulation agreements with community colleges?
Establishing or refreshing articulation agreements:
- Initial contacts from community colleges (CCs) regarding articulation agreements (AAs) should be sent to Assistant Director of Recruitment and Retention (ADRR).
- ADRR identifies potential partners and communicates with Associate Dean and department chairs about articulation possibilities.
- ADRR works with the Agriculture Center of Excellence to identify articulation partners. The Agriculture Center of Excellence communicates with CAHNRS about community colleges interested in developing articulation agreements.
- ADRR serves as the liaison between department chairs and CC faculty or staff members.
- Department Chairs are responsible for engaging curriculum committees and undergraduate program coordinators in a timely manner to negotiate the terms of new agreements. Faculty consultants are available to facilitate discussions about curriculum issues as needed. If assistance is needed, please contact:
- Ag and Natural Resource Sciences: Mike Swan, mswan@wsu.edu, 509-335-2899
- Human Sciences: Brenda Boyd, boydb@wsu.edu, 509-335-9642
- ADRR oversees the process by establishing and managing timelines for completion and implementation of agreements.
After an agreement is signed:
- ADRR will be responsible for maintaining a list of current and archived AAs. Electronic copies will be kept on a SharePoint site that will be organized by CC and degree program. (https://sharepoint.cahnrs.wsu.edu/cahnrs-admin/AcadProgs/transartic/default.aspx).
- Original copies of all articulation agreements will be retained in the CAHNRS Academic Programs Office.
- ADRR works with Associate Director of Admissions to keep Admissions and Enrollment Counselors informed of new AAs. Admissions also will maintain a database of current AAs.
- ADRR maintains a link on the CAHNRS Academic Programs website under the “Transfer” page that includes the CAHNRS Articulation Guidelines and Term-by-Term Planning sheet so documents can be downloaded by CC partners. This website also includes a list of current AAs sorted by CC (http://academic.cahnrs.wsu.edu/transfer/articulation.html).
- The ADRR shares completed AAs with the Agriculture Center of Excellence for posting on their website to assist with information dissemination (http://agcenterofexcellence.com/ace/).
