Special Agriculture Internship in Rwanda for 2012
Challenge yourself and apply your skills by contributing to the agricultural development and food production of one of the poorest countries in the world. This spring, a small, select group of CAHNRS students will have an opportunity to participate in a special pilot international internship program in Rwanda. Students will work together during the spring semester on problem solving challenges specific to needs in Rwanda. The program will culminate with a two and a half week capstone experience in Rwanda where students will collaborate with students from the Higher Institute of Agriculture and Animal Husbandry to implement their challenge solutions. Sculpture Stands Tall in Display Garden
A sculpture by retired anthropology professor Richard Daugherty in 1983 in memory of WSU professor of plant pathology, Shirl Graham now stands in the Horticulture and Landscape Architecture Display Garden. The sculpture is based on a 1.5 inch tall whale-bone carving found at the famous Ozette archaeological excavation site on the Olympic Peninsula. The excavation was of a Makah whaling village located near Ozette Lake that was buried in a mudslide, preserving the people’s houses and belongings. Makah and WSU scientists unearthed the village from 1970 to1982 and were led by Daugherty.
In order to protect the sculpture from the construction going on in the IT building, the sculpture was recently moved to the Display Garden. "Not many people got to see the statue where it was,” said Keith Wells, curator for the WSU Museum of Art. "We thought moving it would be a good complement to the garden. We want people to enjoy it.” For more photos, click here »

Check out this review for info (scroll down for info on Googling scholarship - not all searches are created equal!). WSU also maintain a scholarship-search info page, as well as an updated list of private scholarship sources.
